ABP CVoter Survey: Unemployment Biggest Issue For Voters In Gujarat & Himachal. Know Key Poll Factors
ABP CVoter Survey 2022: The terms of the legislatures of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh will expire on February 23, 2023, and January 8, 2023, respectively.
New Delhi: With polls in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh around the corner, ABP News along with CVoter tried to ascertain some of the main concerns of the voters in the two poll-bound states. The issue of unemployment stood out in both states.
In Himachal Pradesh, 45.9 per cent of people covered by the survey said that unemployment is the most important issue for them. In Gujarat, around 31.4 per cent cited unemployment as their main concern.
The hill state and Gujarat listed roads, water, and electricity as other concerns — 13.6% and 16.4%, respectively.
Gujarat & Himachal Pradesh Chief Ministers' Performance
Meanwhile, as far as the performance of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur is concerned, 32.9 per cent said it has been good, while 35.5 per cent called it poor, and 29.5 per cent found it average.
In Gujarat, CM Bhupendra Patel's performance was deemed good by 36.1 per cent of people, 34.9 per cent called it average, and 29.1 per cent termed it as poor.
Are People Satisfied With BJP Governments In Gujarat & Himachal?
In Gujarat, 42.3 per cent of people participating in the survey were satisfied with the BJP government's work, 32.2 per cent deemed it poor and 25.6 per cent said it was average. As per the CVoter poll, 39.9 voters in Gujarat said they were angry with the government but they didn't want a change in dispensation, 33.9 per cent said they were angry and wanted to change the state government. As much as 26.2% said they were happy with the BJP rule.
As for Himachal, 37.2 per cent called BJP government's performance poor, 33.3 per cent of voters said they were satisfied, and 29.5 per cent found it average. According to the ABP-CVoter survey, 45.4 voters in the hill state said they were angry with the government but they didn't want a change in the dispensation, while 32.5 per cent said they were angry and wanted a regime change, and 22.2% said they were happy with the Jairam Thakur government.
Which Factors Will Affect The Elections?
When asked which factors will affect the Himchal Pradesh election, 18 per cent of people voted for national issues like nationalism and national security and 14 per cent voted for impact of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, 33.5 per cent voted for local factors.
As much as 27.9 per cent of Gujarat voters said national issues will be the dominant factor in the election. Only 18.3 per cent of voters in Gujarat think the Aam Aadmi Party contesting the poll could impact the election, while 18% said religious polarisation could affect the poll. Meanwhile, 67.4 per cent said that former Congress leader Hardik Patel joining BJP will have no impact on the upcoming election, though 32.6 per cent think otherwise.
Most Preferred Chief Ministerial Candidates
In Himachal Pradesh, about 46.1 per cent say that the BJP will win the elections and Jairam Thakur emerged as most preferred CM candidate. Similarly, Gujarat prefers Bhupender Bhai Patel to remain the chief minister as 34.6 per cent voted for him as the CM candidate and 63.4 per cent voted that BJP will win this assembly election.
Both states are satisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's performance — 66.5 per cent in Himachal Pradesh said good, and 60.2 in Gujarat felt the same. On the other hand, 29.1 per cent in Gujarat and 18.9 per cent in Himachal Pradesh said that his performance has been poor.
The terms of the legislatures of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh will expire on February 23, 2023, and January 8, 2023, respectively. According to a PTI report, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said last month the date for Himachal Pradesh assembly elections will be fixed while keeping in mind the snowfall season.
