AAP Asks Congress To Clear Stance On Ordinance Issue, Kharge Says Will Decide Before Parliament Session

AAP leader Priyanka Kakkar urged Congress to make the party's stance clear over the Delhi Ordinance issue. Kharge said that a decision on the matter will be made ahead of the Parliament session.

After Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the party will take a call on the Delhi ordinance matter ahead of the Parliament session, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar on Friday demanded Congress to clear its stance on the issue. As the Opposition meeting in Patna is underway to chalk out the strategy ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Kakkar accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of joinig hands with BJP on this matter. She further asked why the grand old party was taking so long to declare its stance.

Kharge while leaving for the meeting this morning said, "We all want to fight together against BJP and our agenda is to remove it... I don't know about the reason why Kejriwal is saying that AAP might walk out of the coalition if Congress doesn't support them on ordinance issue. But, he might be aware of the fact that it can neither be proposed or opposed (officially) outside of Parliament. Before the Parliament session begins, all parties will meet to decide the agenda which will be raised during the session. His party will also be a part of those discussions. So we will take a decision on the issue during that meeting."

Priyanka Kakkar while responding to Kharge's statements said, "We have got information that Rahul Gandhi and BJP have done an agreement... Congress should clear its stand against this unconstitutional Ordinance, why they are taking so long in doing so?"

Telangana Minister KTR Rao also urged the Congress to make its stance clear. While talking to ANI, he said, "Congress has to answer as to why they will not support this anti-federal bill that govt of India is trying to enforce on the people of this nation, especially in the case of Delhi govt."

AAP's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has been urging the Congress to voice its support for him against the ordinance. Kejriwal is upset because Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has not yet given him an appointment. Congress, on the other hand, is avoiding being seen standing with Kejriwal, especially after the drubbing in Punjab last year.

Kejriwal has asked the opposition parties to clarify their stand by writing letters [to the PM]. Earlier, Kejriwal said that the day is not far when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will run the government through Lieutenant Governors and Governors in 33 states.
