'52 Congress MPs will fight for every inch' says Rahul Gandhi during CPP meeting

The party on Saturday in its meeting decided that former party President and current UPA chief Sonia Gandhi will remain the leader of Congress Parliamentary Party. Now, she will decide party’s leader in the lower of house of the parliament.

New Delhi: Days after Congress faced massive defeat in the Lok Sabha elections and decided to maintain a low profile in front of media for a month by disappearing from television debate shows, Congress’ Parliamentary Party meeting was held on Saturday, where party President Rahul Gandhi finally broke his silence. While addressing the meeting, Gandhi said that the elected 52 Member of Parliament from Congress will now fight for everyone and every issue in the Lok Sabha. “Our 52 MPs will fight for every inch” he said. Bharatiya Janta Party swept the Lok Sabha elections with a majority of over 300 seats in comparison to Congress party which was able to bag only 52 seats on its and was not able to touch the 100 mark along with its allies. The party on Saturday in its meeting decided that former party President and current UPA chief Sonia Gandhi will remain the leader of Congress Parliamentary Party. Now, she will decide party’s leader in the lower of house of the parliament. As per sources, the names of Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari are in fray. In the meeting which was held in the central hall of Parliament, MPs also chalked out its strategy for the upcoming session of Parliament.
