Patna: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Vinod Narayan Jha stoked a controversy on Friday after he made a sexist remark on Congress newly appointed General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. The BJP minister from Bihar took a dig at Priyanka saying that her attractive face wont help Congress win votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The BJP minister's remark comes days after Congress handed Priyanka Gndhi her political debut by making her General Secretary for the Eastern Uttar Pradesh region. When confronted by the media, Jha said that he had not said anything wrong and also refused to apologise. Speaking on Priyanka’s entry to politics, Jha said that Priyanka in naive when it comes to the field of politics. “Votes can’t be won on basis of beautiful faces. Moreover, she is the wife of Robert Vadra who is accused of involvement in land scam and several corruption cases. She’s very beautiful but other than that she holds no political achievement,” Jha said. The Congress move of making Priyanka Gandhi plunge into active politics is seen as measure to counter the newly formed SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh, which is seen to make major inroads into the voter base of the Grand Old party of Indian. In an official notice released earlier this week, it was notified that “Honourable Congress president has appointed Shrimati Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as AICC General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East,” who will be taking charge with effect in the first week of February.
