2 Terrorists Killed, 1 CRPF Personnel Martyred In Pulwama Encounter, Search Ops Underway

The Indian Army said that 2 terrorists were killed and 2 AK-47 were recovered in an encounter in Bandzoo area of Pulwama.

New Delhi: Two terrorists were killed and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was martyred on Tuesday in a gunfight in the Bandzoo area of J&K's Pulwama district. 2 AK-47 were also recovered from the terrorists. The CRPF head constable was critically injured but later succumbed to the injuries. He received gunshot wounds when terrorists opened fired during the cordon operation. ALSO READ:Know The Indian Army | A Basic Fact-file On The Organisation And Structure Of Infantry Regiments A joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army's 55 Rashtriya Rifles and the 182 CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Bandzoo. As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering an encounter. Bandzoo village is situated one kilometre ahead of Pulwama town on Pulwama-Shopian road. This comes a day after three terrorists, including one involved in the killing of BSF jawans in Poonch area, were gunned down by security forces in Zadibal area of Srinagar. Notably, security forces made several attempts to make them surrender but they refused. Around 108 terrorists have been killed in operations in Kashmir this year. June saw around 32 killings of terrorists so far.
