Maharashtra Drama Hots Up: Here's Who Is Supporting Whom In Pawar Vs Pawar War

NCP MLAs, MLCs and MPs have gathered at MET Bandra and YB Chavan Centre in Mumbai to support Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar at respective meeting locations.

Amid big claims by Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar factions of having more NCP MLAs in their support, 15 MLAs, five Members of Parliament (MPs) and three MLCs have so far reached YB Chavan Centre to back Sharad Pawar. Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar has so far garnered the support of 29 MLAs and four MLCs. Notably, Ajit Pawar needs the support of at least 36 MLAs (Two-thirds of elected leaders in the assembly) to avoid the anti-defection law. NCP has 53 MLAs in the Maharashtra assembly.

The crisis in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is escalating with the Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar-led factions calling separate meetings on Wednesday in an apparent show of strength.

"We will see the number of leaders sitting on the stage and at other places. Supporters are signing papers and they are asked from where have they come. The exact number of leaders can only be seen on the stage," Bhujbal said.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar along with his supporters from the NCP unfurl the party flag after he reached MET Bandra. His faction leader and state cabinet minister Bhujbal said that several MLAs are stuck in traffic and the numbers in their support will cross the 40-mark.

Meanwhile, according to sources, the Pawar battle over the control of NCP has reached the Election Commission. Both sides have reportedly informed the EC of the recent political developments.
