11 Arrested For Brandishing Weapons, Performing Bike Stunts In Bengaluru

The viral video, which shows the youths riding seven bikes while waving swords and machetes in the DJ Halli area, has sparked outrage in Bengaluru.

A group of youth took to the streets performing dangerous bike stunts and brandishing swords and machetes during Shab-e-Barat celebrations in Bengaluru. Following this, eleven individuals have been arrested and seven bikes have been seized. The incident, which occurred on February 13, came to light after the video of the incident went viral on social media.

The viral video, which shows the youths riding seven bikes while waving swords and machetes in the DJ Halli area, has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns about public safety, reported Times of India. Authorities revealed that the suspects, who work as mechanics, delivery agents, and chicken shop assistants in DJ Halli and nearby localities, filmed their reckless stunts and even uploaded the footage on Instagram.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) D Devaraja stated that Shab-e-Barat is a sacred Islamic festival observed by visiting burial grounds to pray for deceased elders, as reported by Daiji World. To ensure peace during the occasion, extensive security arrangements were made across key areas. However, 11 to 15 individuals allegedly disrupted the peace by moving toward Outer Ring Road, Ramamurthy Nagar, KR Puram, and Avalahalli, where they performed dangerous stunts and brandished weapons.

Stating that the night patrol failed to notice it, he said that he have requested a report on the matter, as per the TOI report.

BJP Slams Karnataka Govt

Taking to X, BJP hit out at Karnataka government for the issue. They said, "Dear Accidental Home Minister @DrParameshwara , what's the excuse this time? Call them Mentally unstable? Or was it just an accident that they pulled out swords & recorded it?  And a special thanks to Balak Buddhi @RahulGandhi for gifting us this "Mohabbat ki Dukan"—where appeasement is the only thing in stock! 🛍️🔪 We will not stay silent if this continues!
