G20 2022: From PM Modi To President Xi Jinping, Here's Full List Of World Leaders Attending The Bali Summit

As the 17th G20 summit is all set to begin from tomorrow in Bali, Indonesia, leaders from across the major economies have started arriving in the island nation. 

New Delhi: As the 17th G20 summit is all set to begin in Indonesia's Bali, leaders from across the major economies have started arriving in the island nation. 

The G20 summit 2022 will be the first since the Russia-Ukraine war, which has deeply divided the world’s biggest economies and sparked several global crises. This subject will undoubtedly dominate discussions at the summit.

Additionally, it will be U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping's first in-person encounter since Biden took office.

Let's take a look at all the leaders attending the summit-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Modi will attend the summit from November 14-16 as he will formally take over India's G20 Chairmanship for 2023 starting from December 1. 

Modi will speak to and engage with the Indian community in Bali on November 15.

US President Joe Biden

Biden will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G20 summit on Monday. They are scheduled to address a number of controversial topics, including the tension in Taiwan, the human rights crisis, the conflict in Ukraine, and North Korea's nuclear programme.

China's President Xi Jinping 

The trip to Bali is Jinping's first international trip since getting an unprecedented 3rd term as the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party. The meeting with Biden will be the two leaders' first face-to-face meeting since Biden came to power. 

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

President Vladimir Putin will be represented in Bali by Lavrov after confirmation from officials that the Russian leader would not attend the summit or join discussions virtually. 

Pressure from Western nations to cancel President Putin's invitation and remove Russia from the group over the conflict in Ukraine has met with resistance from Indonesia, which said it lacked the power to do so without agreement from other members.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (Virtual)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will take part in the summit, most likely virtually, his spokesperson told the Suspilne public broadcaster on November 8.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

Prime Minister Sunak and US President Biden are scheduled to meet at the summit and discuss bilateral cooperation, including the AUKUS security pact as an effort to counter China's influence in the Indo-Pacific region, A Downing Street spokesperson said.

 Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

During his visit to Asia, his office said that Prime Minister Trudeau is scheduled to discuss solutions to various global challenges, including food, energy insecurity, climate change, and health instability.

French President Emmanuel Macron

President Macron is due to hold talks with PM Modi on the sidelines of the summit.

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida 

Japan's foreign ministry confirmed Prime Minister Kishida's attendance at the summit in a statement.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese

Prime Minister Albanese has emphasised the significance of this summit in view of the current state of the world economy. Additionally, he promised to collaborate closely with the president of Indonesia to ensure the summit's success.

Before arriving for the summit in Bali, Albanese met US President Biden on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Sunday, to discuss climate cooperation and the AUKUS pact.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol

President Yoon is expected to meet with colleagues and some Korean business leaders in Indonesia in addition to attending the summit.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

Scholz, who is on his second trip to Asia in a month and is representing Germany, will travel to Bali for the summit after stopping in Vietnam and Singapore.

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman

The crown prince, Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler, is expected to attend the summit.

South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa

President Ramaphosa will discuss issues ranging from global health architecture and sustainable energy transition to digital transformation at the summit, his government said.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan

President Erdogan arrived in Bali on Monday. He will hold a bilateral meeting with the host and Indonesian President Joko Widodo before the summit.

Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez

President Fernandez will hold talks covering issues such as climate and the impact on the poorest countries, state media said.

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard

Ebrard will represent President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador at the summit.

Brazil: To be confirmed

President Jair Bolsonaro, who lost an election to incoming leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, won't attend the summit, the Foreign Affairs Ministry told The Brazilian Report.

European Council

President Of The European Union Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President Of The European Union Council Charles Michel will attend the summit.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni

Prime Minister Meloni is expected to attend the summit, as confirmed by her office.
