Farmers' Protest March: Agitating Farmers Allowed Entry To Delhi, Shall Protest At Burari Ground| Top Developments

After the Union government allowed agitating farmers to enter Delhi, the protests will continue from Burari area.

New Delhi: Braving tear gas and water cannons, famers protesting the new Farm Bill have been given permission to enter the national capital Delhi through the Tikri Border. They have allowed by the Union government to continue their demonstration from the Nirankari Samagam Ground in the Burari area. Farmers have been protesting in several states since late September demanding the repael of new three agriculture-related bills. Farmers in Punjab have expressed apprehension that the Centre's farm reforms would pave a way for the dismantling of the minimum support price system, leaving them at the "mercy" of big corporates. The three farm laws include Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill; Farmers' (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill; and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill.   • Delhi Police allowed entry of farmers after discussion with farmer leaders. The police have urged the famers  to protest peacefully at Nirankari Samagam Ground in Burari. 'We appeal to them to maintain peace in order to avoid any inconvenience to others,' said the  Delhi Police
  • The Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain denied permission to police to use stadiums as temporary jails for agitating farmers. Earlier, Delhi Police had sought permission from the AAP government to use the city's nine stadiums as temporary jails due to the farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' march
  • Earlier today the Delhi Metro announced the closure of exit and entry gates at six metro stations on the Green Line in view of the 'Delhi Chalo' march by farmers against the Centre's new farm laws.
  • Severe traffic problems had arisen due to the protest and the traffic police had to divert traffic in several locations due to congestion. Delhi Traffic Police also issued fresh advisory asking commuters of the capital city to avoid several routes.
  • Barriers were placed at the Shambhu border between Haryana and Punjab, near Ambala, to stop the protesting farmers. Police also used water cannon & tear gas shells to disperse protesting farmers at Tikri border near Delhi-Bahadurgarh highway. Farmers were seen clashing with security forces, as they tried to head towards Delhi as part of their protest march against Centre's Farm laws.
