Delhi Govt Orders Discontinuation Of Discounts On MRP Of liquor

Delhi Liquor Price: There are about 580 shops in the capital, out of which people were getting this discount in 150 shops. At many liquor shops, discounts of up to 30-35 percent were being given.

New Delhi: The excise department of the Delhi government on Monday discontinued discounts, rebates, and concessions on the maximum retail price (MRP) of liquor in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

On Monday, the Excise Department has issued a new order on this. Although earlier there were speculations that this exemption would be discontinued soon, due to which a large number of people were seen outside the shops on Sunday, the last day.

“All all L7Z licensees (ordered) to strictly abide by Rule 54(3) of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010. In case, any such instance of discount/rebate/concession is brought to the knowledge of the undersigned, action as per Rules and Act as well as the penal action as per the tender document shall be initiated against the defaulting licensee,” said Delhi’s Excise Commissioner said in the order passed on Monday.

The Excise Department in its order also gave the reason for withdrawing the exemption given on liquor. The department said that the decision to withdraw the exemption has been taken as a large crowd was being seen outside liquor shops in the capital. Due to the exemption, long queues were seen outside the shops, due to which the Excise Department has withdrawn the order to give exemption.

Rebate on liquor was being given in Delhi for almost 20 days. There are about 580 shops in the capital, out of which people were getting this discount in 150 shops. At many liquor shops, discounts of up to 30-35 percent were being given.
