CBI Given Consent To Probe Bribe Charges By Satya Pal Malik: J&K LG Manoj Sinha

Satya Pal Malik had alleged that he was offered Rs 300 crore for clearing the files of an "RSS affiliated man" as well as "Ambani", during his tenure as J&K Governor.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said that the CBI was granted consent to probe into bribe allegations made by former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik, reported news agency PTI.

"If someone sitting on such a high post has said anything, then it needs to be probed. We have sent our consent to CBI to probe both allegations, Sinha told reporters at a press conference here.

Earlier on Friday, Sinha had said that they “want everything to come clear” in this regard and had requested CBI to investigate the matter.

“We've written to the  CBI to investigate the matter. We want everything to be clear as people of a high rank have made such allegations,” Sinha had said.

Former governor of Jammu and Kashmir and current governor of Meghalaya, Satya Pal Malik had alleged that he was offered Rs 300 crore for clearing the files of an "RSS affiliated man" as well as "Ambani", during his tenure as J&K Governor.

He further added that he turned down the offer to take a bribe.

I was informed by secretaries in both the departments that there is a scandal involved and I accordingly cancelled both the deals. The secretaries said to me 'you will get Rs 150 crore each for clearing the files' but I told them that I had come with five kurta-pajamas and would leave with that only," Malik had said at an event in Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is reported to have initiated a probe into the allegations of the former J&K governor, PTI reported.
