C5 Aircross To Be Citroen’s First Car In India; Launch In 2020

It will take on the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, MG Hector and the upcoming Skoda Karoq

Citroen has confirmed that the C5 Aircross will be its first offering in India. Pegged to launch before the end of 2020, the mid-size SUV will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, MG Hector and the upcoming Skoda Karoq. Dimensionally, the C5 Aircross is the longest, widest and tallest mid-size SUV after the Tata Harrier. The other two mid-size SUVs in India, the Compass and the Tucson, are smaller than the Citroen. The C5 Aircross is second in terms of wheelbase as well, while the Harrier remains at the top. C5 Aircross To Be Citroen’s First Car In India; Launch In 2020Under the bonnet, the global-spec C5 Aircross is available with four engines options, two each for petrol and diesel. However, in India, the mid-size SUV is expected to get only two engine options. Were the petrol-powered Citroen is expected to get the 1.6-litre unit that produces 180PS of power and 250Nm of torque, the diesel SUV is likely to get the 2.0-litre unit that churns out 176PS and 400Nm. Transmission options available on the global-spec model include a 6-speed MT and an 8-speed AT. C5 Aircross To Be Citroen’s First Car In India; Launch In 2020 In terms of design, the C5 Aircross looks different from any other mid-size SUV on sale in India. Where others look subtle and traditional, the C5 Aircross styling has a quirky vibe to it thanks to its split headlamps and door-mounted ‘Airbumps’. The  Airbumps are slim air-filled elements made of thermoplastic polyurethane designed that protects the lower part of the doors from knocks and scrapes. The C5 Aircross also features red elements across its body further amplifying the quirky design theme. The story remains unchanged on the inside as well as it gets split AC vents and an unconventionally designed steering wheel complementing the exterior design of the SUV. C5 Aircross To Be Citroen’s First Car In India; Launch In 2020 The international-spec C5 Aircross is a well-equipped car and the India-spec model is expected to be no different. In the UK, the C5 is equipped with multiple airbags, ESP, traction control, hill start assist, electronic parking brake, traffic sign recognition, active lane assist and active blind spot detection for safety, while comfort and convenience enhancing features include a panoramic sunroof, dual zone climate control, powered driver seat, front and rear parking sensors, hands-free parking, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
