BS Yediyurappa Moves Karnataka HC Seeking Cancellation Of POCSO Case

In response, Yediyurappa has appealed to the High Court, asserting that there is no element of crime in the complaint against him and thus the case should be quashed.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader BS Yediyurappa has approached the Karnataka High Court seeking the cancellation of a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case registered against him. This move comes after the Karnataka CID issued a notice to Yediyurappa in connection with the case.

The POCSO case was filed based on a complaint by a woman alleging that Yediyurappa misbehaved with her daughter at his residence in Sanjay Nagar. In response, Yediyurappa has appealed to the High Court, asserting that there is no element of crime in the complaint against him and thus the case should be quashed.

The CID has issued a notice to Yediyurappa to appear on Wednesday (June 12) in connection with a POCSO case filed against him in March. Yediyurappa is currently in Delhi and has not yet responded to the notice, CID sources said, as reported by The News Minute. The notice was issued under Section 41(a) of the CrPC which requires an accused to appear before the police for offenses that do not necessitate immediate arrest.

This development follows the filing of a writ petition in the Karnataka High Court on June 10, seeking Yediyurappa's arrest. The petition was filed by Advocate S Balan on behalf of the minor’s family, following an approach by the minor’s brother.

The case has sparked considerable attention, given Yediyurappa's prominent political stature.

Meanwhile, the minor's mother died due to health complications in Bengaluru on May 26.
