SC To Hear Pleas Challenging Electoral Bond Scheme
The Supreme Court will hear a batch of petitions challenging laws capable of issuing election bonds on October 14, which allows anonymous funding of political parties.
The bench of Justices B R Gavai and B V Nagarathna will hear the petitions.
An electoral bond is a tool of a promissory note or carrier bond nature that can be purchased by any person, company, firm or individuals' union, provided that person or body is a citizen of India or is corporate or established in India.
Bonds, which are in many value classes, are released to political parties for the purpose of contributing money to political parties in their current plan in the country.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the NGO, on April 5 had mentioned the matter before the then CJI N V Ramana saying the issue was critical and needed an urgent hearing.
The top court had agreed to list the NGO's plea for hearing but it did not come up before any court.
Priyanka Gandhi To Address Rally In Himachal Pradesh's Solan

According to a statement released by Congress, the Congress leader will launch the party's election campaign in the state on October 14. Assembly elections are due in the state later this year.

Students Fall Ill Due To 'Gas Leak' At School In Tamil Nadu, Hospitalised
Nearly 100 students of a Corporation Middle School in Hosur district in Tamil Nadu, fell ill suddenly post lunch allegedly due to suspected gas leak from a septic tank on the premises, an official said on Friday. Several of them developed nausea and some vomited in the classrooms but none developed serious symptoms, news agency PTI reported.
