PM Modi To Address Global Business Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak at a global business summit on Friday, his office said.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), The Times Group serves as the annual host of the Economic Times Global Business Summit 2023.

The theme of the summit is "Resilience. Influence. Dominance". The two-day summit will be held on February 17-18, it said.

It stated that it would convene thought leaders, policymakers, academics, and corporate leaders on a single platform to seek solutions to major economic issues.

At the summit, there will be over 200 business leaders speaking in 40 sessions.

Karnataka CM To Present Govt's Last Budget

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will present his government's final budget on Friday, which is most likely to be "please-all" with an eye toward the upcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka.

Bommai has repeatedly stated in recent days that this budget will focus on programs that will give more support to poor, weaker sections, farmers, working classes, women, and youth, among other groups, and that it will be a "pro-people" budget.

According to official sources, the budget that Bommai, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will present is likely to aim to please all segments of society, and the Chief Minister is also likely to highlight the government's accomplishments.

"A record collection of Rs 6,085 crore has been made under GST this month. Karnataka continues to be the state with the highest growth rate of 30 per cent in the GST tax collection," Bommai said last week.

This year's remarkable cleanup is the result of reforms, focused vigilance, economic recovery, and improved taxpayer compliance. "This augmentation to revenue will allow the government to present a better budget this year," he had stated.

In addition, the Chief Minister has stated that the government will present an "action taken report" prior to the 2018 assembly elections in the budget regarding the fulfillment of the BJP's promises.
