The cyclone was named 'Tej' in accordance with the Indian Ocean Region's naming system. According to the weather service, Cyclone 'Tej' is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Sunday. The location of the storm's landfall is the most anticipated aspect of the storm.
According to recent IMD data, cyclone 'Tej' is expected to move towards the south coasts of Oman and neighbouring Yemen. However, meteorologists have frequently warned that storms are prone to deviating from their predicted path and intensifying at a different time than predicted.
Traffic To Remain Suspended On Jammu-Srinagar NH For Repairs On Oct 22:
Officials said traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was suspended on Sunday for repairs in Ramban district, while travellers complained of delays on several stretches, including those damaged during recent rains, news agency PTI reported.
According to a traffic police advisory, no vehicle would be permitted to travel on the strategic highway between the Nashri and Banihal tunnels after 6 PM on Saturday, the report said.
The restriction would last until Sunday midnight, it said, adding that the closure was necessary to complete repair and restoration work at Dalwas, where the road stretch was reduced to a single lane due to landslides caused by heavy rains on October 16.
