PM Modi to chair Council of Ministers meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lead a gathering of the Union Council of Ministers on March 3, potentially marking the final such assembly during his government's second term.
These meetings have been recurrent, serving as platforms to deliberate on critical policy matters and governance issues. However, the forthcoming Sunday session carries particular political weight, especially in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, projected to take place in April-May.
The Election Commission is expected to unveil the election timetable within the next few weeks.
Shehbaz Sharif set to become Pakistan's Prime Minister for a second time
Shehbaz Sharif, a prominent leader of the PML-N, is poised to assume the role of Pakistan's next prime minister on Sunday, leading a coalition government once more. This comes amidst accusations of electoral fraud, economic challenges, and an uptick in terrorist incidents.
Shehbaz, endorsed by both the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has officially submitted his candidacy. His opponent, Omar Ayub Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has also entered the race, setting the stage for what is anticipated to be a one-sided election on Sunday.
At 72 years old, Shehbaz, the president of PML-N, is the younger sibling of Nawaz Sharif, a former three-time prime minister aged 74. Nawaz Sharif's unexpected emergence as the party's prime ministerial nominee last month added an intriguing twist to the political landscape.

A central investigative committee focused on human rights violations, led by former Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, Justice L. Narsimha Reddy (Retd), is scheduled to visit the turbulent area of Sandeshkhali in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on March 3.
The committee comprises other members, including retired IPS officer Raj Pal Singh, advocate and former member of the National Commission for Women Charu Wali Khanna, advocate and former registrar of the National Human Rights Commission O.P. Vyas, senior journalist Sanjeev Nayak, and consultant to NFRC and NCPCR Bhavna Bajaj, as per a press statement released by the committee.
Previously, on February 25, the fact-finding team attempted to reach Sandeshkhali but was obstructed by the state police midway, citing prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC as the rationale.
