Bengaluru: Munawar Faruqui's Show 'Forcefully' Cancelled, Comedian Hints At Quitting

The comedian said that his team had to cancel 12 shows in the past 2 months due to the threats to venue and audience.

Chennai: Standup comedian Munawar Faruqui hinted at ending his career as a comedian after he reportedly called off 12 shows in the last two months due to threats to venue members and the audience. The Bengaluru City Police on Saturday canceled the show "Dongri to Nowhere" of the comedian citing alleged law and order problems.

Taking to social media on Sunday, Munawar Faruqui said, "I'm done! Goodbye! Injustice".

In the post on Twitter and Instagram, the comedian said, "Under the threats to venue and vandalism, we sold 600+ tickets. A month back my team called Late Puneeth Rajkumar sir's organisation for charity which we were going to generate from this show in Bangalore.

"We agreed to not sell the show ticket in the name of charity as suggested by the nobel organisation," he said.

Further, Faruqui in his past said, "Putting me in jail for the joke I never did to canceling my shows which has nothing problematic in it. This is unfair. This show has gained so much love from people in India irrespective of their religion. This is unfair," he said.

The comedian then went on to say that he has a censor certificate for his show and the certificate showed nothing problematic in the show. However, the team had to cancel 12 shows in the past 2 months due to the threats to venue and audience.

The comedian said, "Inki Nafrat ka bahana ban gaya hoon hasa kar kitno ka sahara ban gaya hoon tootne pe inki khwaish hogi puri sahi kehta hai, mai Sitara ban gaya hoon (I have become an excuse for their hatred and if I am breaking down then it will fulfill their wish)."

He ended by saying, "I think this is the end. My name is Munawar Faruqui. That's been my time and you guys were wonderful audience. Good bye and I’m done”.
