Audi Q2 to be launched ‘later this year’

New Delhi: After being recently rolled out of Audi’s German assembly lines for the first time, the company’s Q2 baby-SUV is expected to set foot in India later this year, according to company’s India head, Joe King. The Audi Q2 made its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. Speaking about new products lined up for Audi’s Indian portfolio, King told the Times of India that the company is preparing to bring in the mini Q2 SUV that will be its smallest offering in the Q series. “It is an urban SUV and will be aimed at young achievers,” he said. Audi Q2 to be launched ‘later this year’ Audi currently offers three SUVs -- the Q3, the Q5 and the Q7. However, the company now plans to expand its customer base in India and reach mass markets. With an affordable price tag and with a quirkier appeal, the Q2 could just hit the nail on the head for the automaker. The Q2 is available in no less than six engine options globally with three petrol TFSIs and three TDI diesels each, with power ranging from 116PS to 190PS. With the company’s focus shifting to petrol, we expect the SUV to at least get the 1.4-litre TFSI, which it will share with the new Audi A4. Transmission options could include both a six-speed manual and a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic. Audi Q2 to be launched ‘later this year’ When launched in India, the car could carry a sticker price of around Rs 25 lakh. It will go up against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Honda CR-V in this segment. Source: cardekho.com
