Andhra Pradesh MLC Elections: YSRCP Wins All 4 Seats From West Godavari District, Srikakulam, Kurnool
YSRCP candidate Narthu Ramarao won the Srikakulam seat by a huge majority.
Andhra Pradesh's ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has won all four MLC seats from local bodies constituencies, the results of which were declared on Thursday. Narthu Ramarao of YSRCP won the Srikakulam seat by a huge majority. Ramarao received 632 votes while the independent candidate A Ramakrishna got 108 votes.
Kavuru Srinivas and Vanka Ravindranath of the YSRCP won both seats in the West Godavari local bodies constituency. Out of the 1,105 electors who were eligible to vote, 1,088 cast their votes.
YSRCP candidate K Srinivas got 481 votes. Independent candidate Veeravalli Chandrasekhar got 120 votes leaving him behind the ruling party candidate.
YSRCP candidate Dr. Madhusudan won the Kurnool local bodies constituency with a massive majority. Madhusudan received 988 votes out of a total 1,136 votes.
While the declaration of the results of the North Andhra Pradesh Graduates MLC constituency elections is likely to be delayed. According to the ABP Desam report, the counting process will take over 12 hours. The North Andhra MLC elections result may be announced on Friday. The counting is being done in two phases with the participation of two teams.
The election for eight Members of the Legislative Council (MLC)—three graduates, two teachers, and three local authorities' constituencies concluded on March 13, as the term of office for the five members of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council will ends on March 29, 2023.
Graduate constituencies include Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor, Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam and Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool. Whereas, teachers' constituencies include Prakasam-Nellore-Chittoor and Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool, while Srikakulam, West Godavari, and Kurnool are the local authorities' constituencies.
Local authorities’ elections in Anantapur, Nellore, Kadapa, East Godavari and Chittoor constituencies were unanimously won by the ruling YSRCP candidates as there was no competition.
