'Rare Are Those People...': Akhilesh Lauds Rahul Gandhi After Skipping His Mumbai Rally, Says 'People Will Uproot BJP'

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed regret over his inability to attend the closing ceremony of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra due to election preparations in Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi:  On the occasion of the culmination of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav congratulated former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his strong determination and described him as a rare person. Rahul Gandhi concluded the 63-day-long yatra in Mumbai by paying homage to Dr. BR Ambedkar at his memorial Chaityabhoomi and reciting the Preamble of the Constitution. Scheduled to join the event were Akhilesh Yadav, along with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

However, the SP chief did not attend the event. In a letter dated March 17, written to Gandhi by Yadav, the SP chief said, "Today your Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is concluding in Mumbai. Rare are those people, who can take out such 'yatra'. Heartiest congratulations to you for your strong determination."

Speaking about Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Akhilesh Yadav highlighted its inception from Manipur, emphasising the region's challenges under the BJP government's rule. Yadav commended the yatra for its strong stance against authoritarianism in the northeast. Throughout the journey, Gandhi interacted with diverse sections of society, including farmers, youth, women, and the elderly, enabling a firsthand understanding of their grievances, Akhilesh said.

Addressing the recent announcement of elections by the Election Commission, Akhilesh Yadav expressed regret over his inability to attend the closing ceremony of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra due to election preparations in Uttar Pradesh.

"Not only hopeful, but fully confident that the public will uproot and throw out the BJP, which is against the farmers, youngsters, backwards, Dalits and women. The real success of the yatra will be that the BJP gets defeated in these elections", Yadav said.

Yatra Began In  Manipur

Accompanied by his sister and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi concluded his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on Saturday. The yatra, which began in Manipur on January 14 amidst unrest, reached Mumbai after 63 days, entering the city from neighbouring Thane, reported PTI.

On February 21, the I.N.D.I.A bloc partners Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress announced an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, the SP, the primary opposition party, allocated 17 out of the 80 seats to the Congress. Additionally, in Madhya Pradesh, the SP will contest from the Khajuraho constituency and extend support to the Congress in the remaining constituencies across the state.

Notably, the Congress will contest significant seats such as Rae Bareli and Amethi, once considered strongholds of the party, as well as Varanasi, the constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
