At least 13 people died and more than 29 were injured after a bus fell into a ditch in Raigad's Khopoli area in Maharashtra. Rescue operations are underway, said Raigad police. The bus fell in the ditch of Khandala. According to the sources close to ABP News, the bus was going to Kharghar from Old Pune Mumbai Highway. Kharghar's Dhol Tasha Pathak had come for the program in Pune. The accident occured while people were returning after the program.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed grief over the accident and has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family members of the deceased and free treatment will be provided to the injured.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding a road accident. Devendra Fadnavis said that this was a very unfortunate incident that happened in Raigad's Khopoli area. There were 41 passengers on that bus, 12 passengers died on the spot.
"This was a very unfortunate incident that happened in Raigad's Khopoli area. There were 41 passengers on that bus, 12 passengers died on the spot, rest of the passengers have been taken out. Those injured are under treatment. Those who lost their lives will get financial help from the govt. An inquiry has been ordered to find reason behind the accident," Fadnavis said, as quoted by ANI.

In another incident, four people died in an accident an SUV and a private bus on NH-48 near Hirehalli, Tumkur in Karnataka . All four people in the car died on the spot. The bodies were sent to the Tumkur District Hospital mortuary, as reported by ANI. A case has been registered by the police.

Earlier in March, at least five people were injured after a Bengaluru-bound private bus from Mumbai met with an accident, informed officials from Pune's Fire department. According to officials, the bus met with an accident on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway near Bavdhan in Pune.
Last year, several students were injured after a bus carrying 48 students overturned in Raigad. The incident occurred in Khopoli police station area. According to the police, the students were returning to Chembur after a picnic. The injured students were rushed to a nearby hospital. The condition of some of them were reported to be critical.
