2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R Pre-bookings Commence Officially In India

Kawasaki India has announced pre-bookings for the 2020 Ninja ZX-6R in the country at a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. Window for pre-booking is from today till November 30. The motorcycle will be assembled at Kawasaki’s Chakan plant, near Pune. The Japanese brand says that since this motorcycle will be imported in limited numbers in the first lot, the bookings will be closed after reaching a certain targeted number. The future lot of the Ninja ZX-6R will be decided based on the response to the pre-bookings in the country.

Deliveries will commence post January 2019. Kawasaki says the ZX-6R will be available only in the single-seater KRT edition, and its ex-showroom price will be revealed “in due course of time”. We expect this motorcycle to bear a price tag of around Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom. In its category, the Ninja ZX-6R does not have any competitors in the country.

The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R’s design is quite similar to the Ninja 400. The bike features LED headlights and tail light, multifunctional analogue-digital combo cluster with remaining range indicator. Ergonomics are sporty thanks to the clip-ons and rear-set footpegs.

Powering the motorcycle is a 636cc inline-four liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch. The powerplant pushes out 130PS at 13,500rpm and 6PS more with ram air. A peak torque of 70.8Nm arrives at 11,000rpm. Reining in all that output are a plethora of electronic nannies like Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Braking System (KIBS), KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) and bi-directional KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter).

The pressed aluminium perimeter frame employs 41mm inverted SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) forks up front and a bottom-link Uni-Trak monoshock at the rear, both offering full adjustability. Dual 310mm petal discs up front and a 220mm rear disc handle braking duties. The alloy wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres.
