2020 Audi Q7 Facelift Unveiled

Will get a plug-in hybrid variant for the first time

Audi has unveiled the 2020 Q7 facelift. It comes four years after the second-gen SUV made its debut in 2015.

  Audi has unveiled the 2020 Q7 facelift. It comes four years after the second-gen SUV made its debut in 2015. Although it is just a facelift, the updated Q7 looks all new thanks to those Q3- and Q8-inspired cosmetic updates. At the front, the single-frame octagonal grille takes centre stage. It is flanked by new LED headlamps with tri-arrow LED DRLs. Also new is the front bumper which features a larger air dam. Things are different at the rear as well. It gets new LED tail lamps which look inspired from the new Q5. Like the headlamps, they also feature tri arrow LED detailing and a chrome underline. The side profile of the updated Q7 looks largely similar to that of the pre-facelift model. However, the SUV’s length has gone up by 11mm. The Q7 facelift measures 5063mm x 1970mm x 1741mm (LxWxH). On the inside, the Q7’s dashboard looks like a straight lift from the Q8. It features an identical layout with connected AC vents and a touchscreen infotainment system sitting flush in the central console. It also features a second touchscreen below to control various car functions just like in the Q8. Other features on offer include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a four zone climate control, a Bang & Olufsen 3D Advanced Sound System and air suspension. Like the earlier Q7, the updated SUV also gets optional rear wheel steering. The updated Q7 will be available with three engine options: two diesel and one petrol. Audi will also bring in a plug-in hybrid variant of the SUV this time around. Power from these engines will be sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The updated Q7 will also be equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system, which Audi claims reduces fuel consumption by 0.7 litres per 100km. Audi will launch the Q7 facelift in Europe mid-September. It is expected to come to our shores by mid-2020. Once launched, it is likely to be priced over the current model (Rs 78.01 lakh to 85.28 lakh, ex-showroom). The updated Q7 will renew its rivalry with the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and the Range Rover Velar.
