Two Army porters were injured in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district and were rushed to the hospital for treatment, news agency PTI reported.
The two injured have been identified as Raj Kumar and Ashwani Kumar and hailed for Mangiote village. The two received splinter injuries in the explosion in forward Kalal area of Nowshera sector on Saturday, the officials told PTI.
As part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, the forward areas are dotted with landmines which sometimes get washed away by rains resulting in such types of accidents, the officials said, as reported by the news agency.
In another incident earlier on Saturday, four people were arrested for their alleged involvement in an attack on a joint team of police and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
Two sleuths each of police and agency were severely injured when they were attacked during a raid on the house of narcotics smuggler Mushtaq Ali alias "Kaka" at Sarore on Thursday evening, PTI reported.
A police spokesman told the news agency that four hardcore criminals -- Mushtaq Ahmad Mohd Rashid alias Shida of Samba and Farooq Ahmad and Bashir Ahmed of Jammu – were arrested in connection with the attack on the police and NCB teams.
A case under sections of Indian Penal Code and Arms Act was registered at Bari Brahmana police station, he said.
Samba Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Benam Tosh told PTI that the teams of the police were conducting raids at different suspected hideouts and all perpetrators behind the attacks would be behind the bars in no time.
Before this, five army personnel, including three officers, were injured when an officer allegedly opened fire and hurled grenades inside a camp in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
