Bad Newz review: Some films are best enjoyed without overthinking—leave your brain at the door and just relax. We’re constantly using our brain in everyday life, so why not give it a break while watching a movie? 'Bad Newz’ is all about pure entertainment. It’s a fun, time-pass movie that you'll thoroughly enjoy if you don’t overanalyse and just go with the flow.
Bad Newz storyline
Triptii Dimri's character finds herself pregnant, but the mystery is—who's the father? Is it her ex-husband, played by Vicky Kaushal, or her boss, played by Ammy Virk? The doctor reveals that it’s a rare case of heteropaternal superfecundation, where the twins have two different fathers. The rest of the story revolves around unraveling this mystery. To know more, watch it in theaters.
How is the film
This film will appeal to you if you switch off your logical thinking. It starts off decently, picks up pace, and then slightly disappoints in the second half. There are several laugh-worthy scenes throughout, although none that will have you rolling in your seats. Vicky Kaushal’s charm keeps you glued to your seat. If you overthink—why this happened, what’s the logic behind that, why Triptii’s character behaves in a certain way—you’ll find many flaws, as you would in any film. The screenplay could have been better, with more comic punches and situations that would have made the film better. Nonetheless, the film succeeds in entertaining you. The entire theater stays back to watch Vicky’s song ‘Tauba Tauba’ in the end, showcasing his incredible energy. Vicky Kaushal is emerging as one of Bollywood's best dancers, and it seems every song he dances to goes viral.
Acting
Vicky Kaushal is the soul of the film, excelling in every scene. He plays Akhil Chaddha, a flamboyant character, with great finesse. His versatility is astounding, from portraying Sam in ‘Sam Bahadur’ to this over-the-top role. Many will watch the film just for his performance. Ammy Virk impresses with his comic timing and chemistry with Vicky. Triptii Dimri also does a commendable job and looks stunning. Neha Dhupia performs well, and Ananya Pandey’s cameo is worth watching for yourself.
Direction
Anand Tiwari’s direction is decent. With a star-studded cast, the film could have been more exceptional with a stronger script, particularly in the second half.
Music
The music of the film is good, effectively using old songs. ‘Tauba Tauba’ is viral everywhere. Several composers have contributed to the film's music.
'Bad Newz' is a good time-pass film. Go watch it.
