Karwa Chauth 2021: Women Break Fast Symbolically In Delhi-NCR As Rain, Clouds Delay Moon Visibility

The married women, observing fast for the long life and well-being of their husbands, are hence doubtful about the arrival of the moon on time.

New Delhi: With only a few minutes left for worship on the auspicious festival of Karwa Chauth, the weather seems to play the spoilsport as it is raining heavily in Delhi and NCR region.

The married women, observing fast for the long life and well-being of their husbands, are hence doubtful about the arrival of the moon on time.

The question here arises is can the fast of Karva Chauth be broken if the moon is not sighted on time due to bad weather.

However, there is no need to panic if the moon is not visible on Karva Chauth.

According to the Panchang, the married couple can perform puja and break the fast in an auspicious time.

According to Pandit Shashishekhar Tripathi, if the moon is not visible due to bad weather then the relatives and friends, who live in other cities, can be contacted in such a situation and the moon can be seen via the video call.

If there is a problem of network or speed then the Karva Chauth fast can be worshiped and concluded at home after seeing the moon on Lord Shiva’s head. In view of the same, Lord Shiva is also called ‘Shashishekhar’.

According to the Panchang, one can worship the moon in an auspicious time.

Besides, those worshipping can make the shape of moon with rice and putting a red cloth on it. The married women can then invoke the moon by chanting the mantra ‘Om Chaturth Chandraya Namah’. After this, they will be able to complete their fast by worshiping as per the tradition.
