Sharjah-Bound Air India Express Flight Makes Precautionary Landing At Thiruvananthapuram Airport

An Air India Express flight made a precautionary landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after encountering a technical snag, says the airline.

A Tiruchirappali-Sharjah Air India Express flight on Monday made a precautionary landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport due to technical reasons. According to ANI, an Air India Express spokesperson said that flight IX613, operating between Tiruchirappalli and Sharjah on 31st July, made a precautionary landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The spokesperson further said that the decision was taken due to a technical snag post-takeoff.
 
"The airline clarifies that this was not an emergency landing. We regret the inconvenience caused to guests on board. Our team is making alternative arrangements for their travel," the airline said. According to PTI, the airline also said there were 154 passengers on the flight.

An Oman Air flight from Kozhikode bound for Muscat returned to the international airport in the district on Tuesday. The incident took place minutes after take off after the flight developed a technical snag. 

According to PTI, flight WY 298 with 169 people took off from Karipur airport at 9.15 AM. However, the flight turned back within a few minutes of its journey. 

A Calicut airport official said that the flight landed safely despite the technical fault. “It was a normal landing.. the aircraft landed safely,” he told PTI. The flight reportedly circled the airport for two hours to burn fuel. 

On Sunday, Air India Express flight bound for Dubai returned to Thiruvananthapuram after developing issues related to AC system. The flight IX 539 carrying 178 people onboard returned after over 2 and a half hours. 

On July 11, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials said, SpiceJet's Dubai-Madurai flight delayed after the Boeing B737 Max aircraft's nose wheel malfunctioned.

SpiceJet Spokesperson said, "An alternate aircraft was arranged which brought pax back to India. After the minor technical issue was resolved, first aircraft flew back to India as a commercial flight."

He said that flight delays can happen with any airline and there has been no incident or safety scare on this flight. This is reportedly the ninth technical malfunction in a SpiceJet aircraft in the last 24 days.
