Rahul Gandhi Visits Vandalised Office In Wayanad, Says Violence Will Never Resolve Problems

Last week, SFI workers, while marching towards the office of Rahul Gandhi over his inaction regarding buffer zones around forest areas, reportedly barged into the office and vandalised it.

Chennai: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday visited his MP office in Wayanad, which was vandalised by the activists of SFI last week, and termed the act as "irresponsible". Asserting that violence would never resolve any problem, Rahul Gandhi, however, said he does not have any hostility towards those who committed the act.

The visit of Rahul Gandhi also comes at a time when a country bomb was hurled on AKG Centre, the headquarters of the ruling CPI(M), in Thiruvananthapuram. The ruling left party has alleged the role of Congress behind the "bomb attack" on the centre.

"This is the office of the people of Wayanad. It is quite unfortunate that the office has been attacked. Violence will never resolve problems. It is not good that they have acted in an irresponsible manner. I don’t have any anger or hostility towards them. They are kids and they don’t understand the consequences of their act," PTI quoted Rahul Gandhi as saying. Gandhi, however, did not refer to either SFI or CPI(M) in his address.

Gandhi also called the SFI activists who indulged in violence as "kids".

When asked by reporters on the Supreme Court remarks against suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma for her controversial comments against the Prophet, Rahul said the atmosphere in the country had not been created by the person who made the comments.

"The atmosphere in the country has been created by the ruling dispensation. It is not the person who has made the comment. It is the Prime Minister. It is the Home Minister. It's the BJP & the RSS. It's an anti-national act," he said.
