NIA Conducts Raids In 56 Locations Linked To PFI In Kerala

The searches are continuing at the premises and offices of several suspects linked to PFI members. 

Chennai: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) started to raid 56 locations in Kerala in connection with the Popular Front of India (PFI) conspiracy case on Thursday. 

According to ANI, "National Investigation Agency is carrying out raids at 56 locations in Kerala in the Popular Front of India case: Sources."

The searches are continuing at the premises and offices of several suspects linked to PFI members. 

The searches conducted along with Kerala police come after input report against PFI cadres involved in several terrorist acts and the murder of several persons. Till now, the murdered persons include Sanjith who was killed in Kerala on November 2021, V Ramalingam killed in Tamil Nadu in 2019, Nandu killed in Kerala in 2021 and Sasikala Kumar killed in Tamil Nadu in 2016, as per the report.

The NIA also raided the locations linked to PFI on Wednesday. 

Earlier, NIA also submitted a report to Kerala court claiming that PFI leaders were in touch with Al Qaeda terror group. 

The members were also running a secret wing, said the report. 

"During recent raids, the NIA recovered a few devices. During the scanning of those devices, the agency learned that PFI leaders had been in touch with Al Qaeda. They also had a secret wing," said a source, as per IANS.

Earlier, Ministry of Home Affairs said that the murders were carried out with the objective of disturbing peace and tranquility. MHA also said that criminal activities were undertaken for creating terror in the minds of the public.

In September, the Ministry of Home Affairs was banned by PFI for a five-year period under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
