Kerala: Woman Gives Birth En Route To Hospital On KSRTC Bus

In an unexpected turn of events, a 37-year-old woman from Malappuram gave birth to a healthy baby girl on a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus while en route from Thrissur to Thottilpalam in Kozhikode on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident unfolded as the bus traversed through Peramangalam in Thrissur district with the woman suddenly going into advanced labour and experiencing intense contractions.

Reacting swiftly to the emergent situation, the vigilant bus driver, displaying presence of mind, diverted the route towards Amala Hospital upon realizing the gravity of the situation. The bus staff promptly notified the hospital authorities about the impending childbirth.

As the bus reached Amala Hospital, passengers were quickly disembarked to allow medical professionals to attend to the expectant mother. With the woman already in the advanced stage of labour, every moment counted.

The woman delivered a healthy baby girl inside the bus with the combined efforts of the KSRTC staff and the medical team at Amala Hospital ensuring a safe delivery despite the unconventional setting.

The CCTV footage from the scene captured the coordinated efforts of the bus crew and healthcare workers, exemplifying their dedication and efficiency in providing urgent medical assistance under challenging circumstances.

Later in the evening, the woman's husband arrived at the hospital, relieved to find both his wife and newborn daughter safe and sound. Hospital authorities commended the prompt actions of the KSRTC conductor and driver, acknowledging that their timely intervention played a crucial role in saving the lives of the mother and her baby.
