Kerala's Vigilance Bureau Begins Probe Against K Sudhakaran In School Fund Misappropriation Case

The investigation agency has also sent a notice to Sudhakaran's wife seeking details of her salary from the school she worked from 2001 onwards.

Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau initiated a probe against state Congress chief K Sudhakaran in school fund misappropriation case. The move comes after K Sudhakaran was arrested recently in another case for allegedly receiving funds from a fake antique dealer.

According to ANI, "Kerala's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has started a probe against state Congress chief K Sudhakaran in a school fund misappropriation case, days after he was arrested for allegedly receiving funds from a fake antique dealer."

"The investigation agency has sent a notice to Sudhakaran's wife seeking details of her salary from the school she worked from 2001 onwards," it said.

The action was based on a complaint by Sudhakaran's former driver Prasanth Babu. In the complaint, Sudhakaran's driver demanded to initiate a probe against KPCC chief. In 2021, Prasanth gave a complaint seeking a probe into the misappropriation of Rs 16 crore collected for purchasing a school in Kannur district.

On June 23, Sudhakaran was arrested in connection with receiving funds from antique dealer Monson Mavunkal hours after CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and Congress heavyweights Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge attended a joint Opposition meeting in Patna. The meet was organised for creating a roadmap for the national front against BJP in 2024 Parliamentary Elections.

Later, Sudhakaran was released on bail in line with an interim bail order of HC.

Earlier, Congress said, "The CM (Pinarayi) and his party proved that they are not a worthy ally for anyone in the fight against the facist rule in the country."
