'I Sent Rahul Gandhi From UP To Wayanad': Union Minister Smriti Irani

Smriti Irani said, "When he (Rahul Gandhi) was MP there (Amethi), 80% of people had no electricity, no fire station, no medical college, no KV school."

Union Minister Smriti Irani said that she sent Rahul Gandhi from UP to Wayanad and the people should ensure he does not stay there. She said that if he continues to be in Wayanad then the district will meet the same fate as Amethi.

Union Minister Smriti Irani said,  “It was me who sent him (Rahul Gandhi) from UP to Wayanad. When he was MP there, 80% of people had no electricity, no fire station, no medical college, no KV school. Once he left, all these facilities became possible. If he stays here (in Wayanad), it will also meet the same fate as Amethi. So, you have to ensure that he does not remain here.”

Smriti Irani was addressing the state-level Women Labour Convention organised by Kerala unit of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. Irani said that she worries about Wayanad wherever she is be it Delhi or Amethi.

Gandhi was the MP of Wayanad before he was disqualified after his conviction in a criminal defamation case.

A Surat Court sentenced him to a two-year jail term in a 2019 criminal defamation case. After his disqualification, Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency was declared vacant.
