Rahul Cannot Contest From Any Other Seat In Country, Can Only Come To Wayanad: Union Minister On Cong List

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar's remarks came in response to the Congress party's announcement of the first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar alleged that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is confined to contesting only from Wayanad. Further, he said that Rahul Gandhi could not contest from any other seat anywhere in the country and they all know why. Chandrashekhar's remarks came in response to the release of the Congress party's first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

On the release of Congress's list for the LS polls, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar said, "All the best to them (Congress). Rahul Gandhi cannot contest from any other seat anywhere in the country. He can only come to Wayanad and we all know why."

"I think the people of Kerala this time will not give the Congress the mandate they gave in the last election... The people of India want a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

The Congress party released its initial list of 39 candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, confirming the candidature of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad for the second consecutive time.

The announcement of Wayanad constituency comes amid suspense surrounding Rahul Gandhi's candidacy for a second seat from Uttar Pradesh's Amethi. However, the Congress party has also clarified that discussions regarding candidates in the remaining states will take place in forthcoming meetings.

The second Election Committee meeting is scheduled for March 11 where the Congress will finalise the names of candidates for the remaining states.
