Aluva Child Rape Case: Lone Accused Sentenced To Death By POCSO Court

The prosecutor said the death sentence would be carried out after confirmation by the Kerala High Court, as per PTI.
The prosecutor told the media outside the court that the convict was given five life terms for the various offences of rape and aggravated penetrative sexual assault under the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.
Meanwhile, the parents of the victim thanked the court, the police, the prosecution and the people of Kerala for supporting them and ensuring justice for their daughter after her killer was given the death penalty.
People applauded, kissed, and shook hands with Special Public Prosecutor G Mohan Raj after the order was announced and he left the courtroom.
On 28 July, a girl was raped and murdered, allegedly by a migrant worker from Bihar who lived in the same block as the victim.
The accused, Ashfaq Alam, was caught the same day, but the girl's body was discovered only the next day in a sack in a swampy area behind a local market in Aluva. On August 1, he was taken into police custody for 10 days.
