'Absolutely No Tussle, Will Go By Spirit Of Constitution': Kerala Guv On Govt Moving SC Over Nod To Bills

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that he would go by the spirit of the Constitution.

Days after the Kerala government moved a petition in the Supreme Court against the Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan responded on Friday and said there was no tussle between Kerala government and him. Further, he said that he would go by the spirit of the Constitution.

On Kerala govt's petition in Supreme Court against him, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said, " There is absolutely no tussle (between Kerala govt and Governor), I will go by the spirit of the constitution...University bills are money bills and money bills cannot be passed by the Assembly without prior approval by the Governor."

The Governor said, "Have they given any evidence that I have created a crisis? Merely making a statement does not mean that. Crisis means when you go beyond the powers or authority which is given to you by the Constitution. Give me one single example of where I have gone beyond that."

"Show me one instance where I have crossed the line. And how many times my own government has crossed the line, there is a long list. So who is creating the crisis?" Khan said, as per PTI.

Last week, Kerala government moved a writ petition in the Supreme Court against Governor Arif Mohammed Khan for inaction on his part regarding eight Bills passed by the state legislature.

The writ petition was filed by advocate C.K. Sasi stating that three Bills were pending before the Governor for more than 2 years.
