Mangaluru Autorickshaw Blast: City Commissioner Shashi Kumar Urges People Not To Share Unverified Information

Days after an explosion occurred in an autorickshaw in Karnataka's Mangaluru, a video surfaced on social media in which two men can be seen near a wine shop with a bag

Days after an explosion occurred in an autorickshaw in Karnataka's Mangaluru, City Commissioner N Shashi Kumar appealed to people to not share any unverified or random information after a video surfaced on social media in which two men can be seen near a wine shop with a bag.

"The suspect's treatment is underway," he further said as quoted by news agency ANI.

While giving more insights about the suspect, who was caught by the police, the Mangaluru City Commissioner said, "The victim's condition is improving. The suspect on the first day tried to forge his identity, he tried to showcase himself as a man from Hubballi, we are trying to establish his identity. The investigation is underway."

Meanwhile, police were deployed outside Father Muller Medical College Hospital, where the suspect in the autorickshaw explosion case is currently under medical treatment.

Two people were injured due to the explosion that happened on Saturday (November 19). On Sunday, Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Praveen Sood confirmed that the blast is not accidental but an "act of terror". Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra also revealed that this is work by an anti-national terrorist organisation.

A cooker with batteries, wires and a circuit was recovered. It's suspected that a floor mat was used to hold this whole circuit in place inside the cooker. An ID card was found on the passenger being verified. A high-level probe has been ordered into the matter.

According to IANS, Tamil Nadu Police and Central agencies are on high alert after the Mangaluru autorickshaw blast accused Mohammed Shariq revealed his Coimbatore connection. Shariq had stayed in Coimbatore for a few months and had procured a SIM card using the Aadhar details of Surendran, a private school teacher, and his roommate.
