Karnataka 'Sex Scandal': HD Revanna's Bail Plea Hearing Adjourned

Senior counsel CV Nagesh, representing HD Revanna, contended that his client was unjustly implicated in the case and urged for bail to be granted.

The Special Court for People's Representatives adjourned the bail plea submitted by former minister and JD(S) MLA HD Revanna to Wednesday. The court was hearing the case related to the abduction of a sex video victim on Tuesday.

HD Revanna was detained in relation to the abduction case filed against him by the son of one of the victims who appeared to be subjected to sexual abuse by Prajwal Revanna, his son, in the leaked videos.

During the court proceedings, the judge queried the counsel of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's son, HD Revanna, regarding the feasibility of considering the bail petition while the accused has been remanded to police custody until May 8.

The judge further inquired about the potential ramifications if bail were granted while the accused remains in police custody.

The court has instructed the Public Prosecutor, who represents the Special Investigation Team (SIT), to present objections regarding the consideration of the bail petition.

Senior counsel CV Nagesh, representing HD Revanna, contended that his client was unjustly implicated in the case and urged for bail to be granted.

In response to the judge's objections, Counsel Nagesh cited past Supreme Court rulings and legal provisions, suggesting that bail could be granted even if the accused is in police custody.

Revanna along with his associate Sathish Babanna was charged on Thursday night for purportedly abducting a woman on April 29.

Furthermore, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has obtained custody of Babanna.

Police sources indicated that the alleged abduction of the woman was aimed at obstructing her from testifying against Prajwal.
