Karnataka Legislative Assembly Names Former CM Yeddiyurappa Best Legislator Of The Year
Karnataka Assembly Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri announced that similar to best parliamentarian award, Karnataka will have best legislator award for members of the Assembly from this year
Chennai: Karnataka Legislative assembly on Friday named former CM BS Yeddiyurappa as the best legislator of the year 2020-21. On this occassion, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla presented him with a memento.
Just before Yeddiyurappa was awarded the memento, Karnataka Assembly Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri announced in the assembly that similar to best parliamentarian of the year award, which is given in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha annually, Karnataka will have the best legislator award for members of the Legislative Assembly from this year.
In the lines of best parliamentarian award being given in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha annually, Karnataka will have the best legislator award for members of the Legislative Assembly from this year, said Karnataka Assembly Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri.

According to TRhe Hindu's report, six-member panel comprising Speaker, with Deputy Speaker, Chief Minister of the state, Leader of the Opposition, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, and one member nominated by the Speaker as members on board will select the best legislator. Best legislator would be receiving a silver medal and a certificate.
To be named as the best legislator a leader's contribution to their respective constituency, overall experience, debating skills, nehaviour towards co-legislators are some of the eligibility criteria.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah, State Congress president DK Shivakumar along with other party MLAs arrive at the Legislative Assembly in Bengaluru on tangas in protest against fuel price hike.
