Karnataka: Congress Alleges Election Data Fraud By BJP, Moves ECI Seeking Probe

Congress leaders wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) requesting to initiate an investigation into the fraud committed to illegally secure personal and electoral data of voters

Days after Congress MP Randeep Surjewala alleged that the "40 per cent commission sarkara" has corrupted the whole election process by stealing voter data with the involvement of Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and Bruhata Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), top Congress leaders Wednesday wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) requesting to initiate an investigation into the fraud committed to illegally secure personal and electoral data of voters.

"All this has been done with a view to influence and tamper with the personal information of voters and add or delete names from voters list for malicious electoral considerations in order to influence the outcome of elections," the letter to ECI reads.

As reported earlier that a private NGO with the help of the Government Order has collected data from thousands of voters in Bengaluru. "One Chilume Educational and Rural Development Institute applied to the BBMP to conduct voter awareness drive of the Election Commission. At first, permission was granted by the civic body for Mahadevapura Assembly and it was then extended to all 28 Assembly Constituencies of Bengaluru vide Govt order date 20th August 2022," Congress further said in a letter.

With the help of BBMP and the ruling BJP government, Chilume committed a brazen fraud of collecting voters data by impersonating government officers of Karnataka, alleged Congress.

While explaining the alleged fraud done by the BJP government in Karnataka, Surjewala earlier said, "They do so in cahoots with Minister Incharge - Basavarak Bommai, BBMP controlled by BJP and election authority. They also issue them BLO cards. They don't upload voters' info on Garuda - ECI app - but on Digital Sameeksha - app owned by a private company for use by MPs/MLAs/political parties."

He further asserted that fraud, impersonation, identity theft, theft, dishonest misappropriation of property, concealment and misuse of stolen property, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy are prima facie on party of Minister In-charge Bommai, his government officers, BBMP and Election Authority.
