Karnataka: 2-Year-Old Boy Gets Trapped In 16-Ft-Deep Borewell, Rescue Ops On For 16 Hours
The police started the operation to rescue the child trapped in borewell on Wednesday at 6:30 PM and the child is being supplied with oxygen through pipes.
In Lachayan village of Indi taluk, Karnataka district, extensive rescue efforts are in progress after a two-year-old boy fell into a 16-foot borewell on Wednesday night. The child is believed to have descended headfirst into the well while playing near his home, according to the police, as reported by PTI. The incident was brought to light when a nearby passerby heard the child's cries and immediately alerted the family.
According to ANI, a 1.5-year-old child fell into an open borewell in the Lachyan village of Indi taluk of the Vijayapura district. A rescue operation is underway. A medical team and an ambulance are kept ready on the spot.

"Rescue operations began around 6.30 pm. Police teams, revenue officials, members of taluk panchayat and officials from the fire and emergency services department are here at the spot. All efforts are underway to rescue the child," a senior police officer said, as per a report on PTI.
The police said that although no sounds had been detected, there had been observed movement inside. Oxygen supply pipes have been lowered, and some movement has been noticed. Rescue efforts are actively underway with the aim of saving the child.
