4 Killed, Over 10 Injured After Blast At Chemical Factory In Telangana's Sangareddy

A fire broke out following a blast at SB Organics Limited at Chandur village of Sangareddy district in Telangana.

Telangana Factory Blast: At least four people were killed and over 10 others were injured after an explosion in a chemical factory in Telangana's Sangareddy on Wednesday, as reported by news agency PTI. Following the blast that occurred at SB Organics Limited in Chandur village, a fire was triggered. Fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flames.

"The reactor exploded at the pharma company and people around it were thrown away in its impact... So far four people have died...10-15 people sustained injuries. They have been shifted to a hospital and are undergoing treatment," a senior police official told PTI.
  6. According to the police official, relief operations were underway following the incident.
  7. According to officials, the toll is likely to go up as 16 workers who sustained injuries were shifted to a private hospital and seven were rushed to the Sangareddy Area Hospital, as per a report in The Hindu. Out of the 16 injured, the condition of two of them is said to be critical.
  8. According to The Hindu, officials from the Sangareddy District Fire Office stated that they retrieved four bodies from the left side of the factory’s ground floor, which had a shed with machinery inside.

Sangareddy police stated that there were no eyewitnesses to the incident, and a probe was ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. A case was booked by the Sangareddy police. Environment and Forests Minister Konda Surekha also visited the accident site to assess the situation.
