'Haunted By Questions': CT Ravi's Cryptic Remark Amid Disgruntlement Buzz Over Karnataka BJP Chief
In a cryptic comment, senior BJP leader CT Ravi said there were some questions that are “haunting” him. However, he refused to speak further on what those questions were.
New Delhi: Amid a buzz over some BJP leaders being upset with the appointment of party veteran BS Yediyurappa's son BY Vijayendra as the BJP’s Karnataka unit chief, senior leader CT Ravi said he, too, is “haunted by certain questions”, news agency PTI reported. The names of Ravi, who has served as BJP's national general secretary, and Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje, were doing the rounds for the state post.
Asked if he was upset with the party’s decision, Ravi, as quoted by PTI said, “I have congratulated Vijayendra. This is not a question of power. This is a responsibility. This responsibility is not something that is taken by asking for it. I'm not an aspirant for any post, and in the last two and half decades I have not asked for any post, but have fulfilled the responsibility given to me by the party.”
"When I have not asked for the post there is no question of being upset or disgruntled,” he added.
Earlier on Friday, the BJP appointed Vijayendra, the younger son of former CM Yediyurappa, as its state unit chief. Vijayendra served as Karnataka BJP’s vice president.
To a question on the saffron party drawing massive criticism over “dynasty politics”, Ravi said, “If I speak anything about this, there are chances of attaching a wrong motive to it. You (media) will show my earlier video, and you may link it to different things. I don't want to comment on it.”
In a cryptic comment, the senior BJP leader said there were some questions that are “haunting” him. However, he refused to speak further on what those questions were.
“There are certain questions that are haunting me in the same way as they are haunting you. We have grown in a certain mould. I have never thought against party interest and will never do it. If I say something it will become breaking news for you. I have never tried to hurt feelings of anyone,” PTI quoted Ravi as saying.
