Karnataka: 2 Windows Of Mysuru-Chennai Vande Bharat Express Damaged As Miscreants Pelt Stones

More than 1,500 cases of stone pelting on moving trains were recorded across the country in 2022 and over 400 people were arrested for the offence, the Railways said earlier in January

Yet another incident of windows damaged in Mysuru-Chennai Vande Bharat Express reported as unidentified persons pelted stones on Saturday at the recently inaugurated Mysuru-Chennai Vande Bharat Express train. However, no injuries reported.

"Two windows of Mysuru-Chennai Vande Bharat Express were damaged on Saturday when some miscreants pelted stones at the train. The incident occurred between Krishnarajapuram-Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Stations. No persons was injured," said South Western Railway as quoted by news agency ANI.

Earlier this month, unidentified persons pelted stones at a coach of the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express train while it was passing through Mahabubabad district in Telangana. According to the report, it is suspected that some children may have pelted stones at the railway coach.

More than 1,500 cases of stone pelting on moving trains were recorded across the country in 2022 and over 400 people were arrested for the offence, the Railways said earlier in January. Vande Bharat trains have also suffered damage due to stone pelting, the most recent being in West Bengal. Soon after its launch, the New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express fell prey to stone pelters.

While incidents of stone pelting on other trains remain largely unreported, cases of stone pelting on the indigenously manufactured Vande Bharat have found wide publicity.
