'Can It Be A Small Issue': BJP Leader CT Ravi Targets Karnataka Home Minister Over Remark On Udupi Video Case

“Home minister says it’s a small matter. Can it be a small matter? Recording in the washroom...can it be a small matter?” said BJP leader CT Ravi.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader CT Ravi on Sunday targeted the Karnataka home minister saying alleging that the state home minister G Parameshwara termed the incident as a “small matter”. “Home minister says it’s a small matter. Can it be a small matter? Recording in the washroom...can it be a small matter?” he said. Ravi was referring to the incident of three female students who allegedly filmed another student in a washroom at a paramedical college in Udupi.

On Friday, the three female students were granted conditional bail by a magistrate court in Udupi. A case was registered by Malpe police against the three students and the college management on July 25. This comes as a fresh row erupted over National Commission for Women member Khushbu Sundar's visit to Udupi to find out about the alleged washroom filming case at a paramedical college.

A magistrate court in Udupi granted conditional bail to three female students accused, news agency PTI reported. As per news agency ANI, the court sought a bond of Rs 20,000 each from them and told them to furnish a surety.

Earlier on Friday, the students surrendered before the Additional Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate First Class Court of Judge Shyam Prakash.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Thursday questioned the need for a visit of NCW member Khushbu Sundar to Udupi when the body has not gone to Manipur, where two women were molested and paraded naked recently.

"Is this incident in Udupi of that magnitude," he asked while talking to reporters, as reported by PTI.

"Let them come, I don't say -- who has to come, who has to see -- all that. Manipur incident...I don't know what to call it, and there the commission has not gone. Is this incident in Udupi of that magnitude?" Parameshwara said in response to a poser regarding the NCW's visit.
