BY Vijayendra Detained During Karnataka BJP Protest Over ‘Irregularities’ In Mysuru Urban Development Authority

Karnataka Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh has already ordered a probe into the alleged irregularities.

Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra and several party workers were detained by the police during a protest demanding a CBI inquiry and the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with alleged irregularities in Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on Wednesday.

According to ANI, "State BJP chief BY Vijayendra and party workers detained by police during the party's protest demanding CBI inquiry and CM Siddaramaiah's resignation over MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) alleged irregularities case."

On BJP's protest demanding CBI inquiry and CM Siddaramaiah's resignation over Mysuru Urban Development Authority alleged irregularities case, BJP leader CT Ravi said, "After this govt has formed, 2 works are done every day and month - corruption and price rise. Corruption is 100%, they don't believe in percentages but in the loot of 100% as they are experienced... We allege that they have used money in the elections in Telangana, Karnataka and even UP. In MUDA, it's not a small corruption but of approx Rs 5,000 crore. The sitting CM and his family are the beneficiaries of it..."

Karnataka BJP Alleges Irregularities In MUDA

The issue stems from allegations of fraud in the allocation of incentive replacement sites with an estimated loss of over Rs 4,000 crore. According to reports, between 4,500 and 5,000 sites were illegally allotted in prominent Mysuru layouts, including Vijayanagar, Dattagalli, J.P. Nagar, R.T. Nagar, and Hanchya-Satagalli. These allocations allegedly violated government rules.

The BJP also accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, of being "illegally" granted a plot of land in an upscale area as a substitute for nearly four acres she owned that were taken. In response, the Chief Minister dismissed the accusation, stating that his wife was eligible for alternative land under the "50:50 ratio" scheme established by the previous BJP government after the MUDA developed a layout on her property without acquiring it, as reported by PTI.

On the other hand, Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh has already ordered a probe into the irregularities. However, BJP pressed for a more extensive investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Additionally, MLA TS Srivatsa has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities. Speaking to reporters, Srivatsa suggested that the State Government should initiate an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or a retired judge. He emphasized that anyone found guilty, regardless of political affiliation, should face consequences.
