Bengaluru: Hindu Man Attacked For Travelling On Bike With Muslim Woman, Two Held

The duo made the woman take an auto back home despite her trying to explain that both were colleagues at a bank.

Chennai: In an act of moral policing, Bengaluru police arrested two persons for attacking a Hindu man for riding back his Muslim colleague clad in a burqa home after work on Saturday. According to a report in The Indian Express, two people waylaid the bike near Dairy Circle on Bannerghatta Road and trashed the man and berated the Muslim woman. 

They immediately attacked the man and told the woman to share the numbers of her family members and abused them. The duo then made the woman take an auto back home despite her trying to explain that both were colleagues at a bank.

The incident soon went viral on social media. The Deputy Commissioner Of Police (South-East) Joshi Srinath Mahadev said that they have registered a case after the video went viral and arrested two people in connection with the case.

In the video that went viral, the accused was seen hitting the man and he then called the husband of the woman to ask if he was aware that his wife was being dropped by another colleague. The duo also showed “disappointment” since the woman's family were unaware of a man dropping her, said a report by The Week.  

All the more, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj S Bommai took to Twitter and gave an update on the action taken on the incident. The Chief Minister said, "In connection with the case of assault on a bike rider travelling along with a woman of different faith, @BlrCityPolice has acted swiftly, identified & secured 2 accused persons. A case is registered & legal action is initiated. My gov deals with such incidents with an iron hand.”`
