Raman Singh unperturbed, as Ajit Jogi decides to contest from Rajnandgaon

Raipur (Chhattisgarh), February 4 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday said that Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) president Ajit Jogi can contest the assembly election from any seat.

Singh's statement comes after reports emerged that Jogi, who is former state chief minister, is contesting the assembly polls from Rajnandgaon assembly seat, which is also the constituency of the former.

"Contesting election is a democratic right. He can contest from wherever he wants to. If he wants to contest from Rajnandagaon, good for him," Singh said.

Jogi, who was earlier a member of the Congress party, had in 2016 severed his affiliation with the party.

The 90-seat Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will go for polls later this year.

The dates of the election are yet to be announced. (ANI)
