Political News: Firing Reported at BJP Candidate’s Office in Ambernath Ahead of BMC Election Preparations

Amid preparations for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, a major law-and-order incident has been reported from Ambernath in Maharashtra. According to information received, firing took place outside the office of BJP candidate Pawan Walekar. Two unidentified individuals allegedly opened fire at the office, triggering panic in the area. A case has been registered against unknown attackers; however, BJP leaders have raised serious allegations of police negligence. Former BJP MLA Narendra Pawar has claimed that despite providing the names of the suspected shooters to the police, no concrete action or specific FIR has been registered against them so far. He termed the incident “serious and suspicious,” especially as it involved a candidate from the ruling party. The firing incident has raised sharp questions over law and order in the state. Opposition parties are expected to corner the government over the issue, calling it a failure of policing and public safety during a sensitive election period. BJP leaders have demanded strict and immediate action, and instructions have reportedly been issued to the police to intensify the investigation. Senior police officials have acknowledged the incident and stated that the matter is under investigation. Security around political offices in the region is also expected to be reviewed as election activity intensifies.
