President Kovind, PM Modi greet nation on Raksha Bandhan

New Delhi [India], Aug. 7 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended his greetings to the nation on the eve of Raksha Bandhan.

The Prime Minister took to Twitter and said, "????????? ?? ???? ???? ?? ?????????? ?? ????-???? ????? Greetings on Raksha Bandhan."

In a series of tweets as well, the President highlighted how Raksha Bandhan celebrates the sacred bond of commitment between sisters and brothers.

"May Raksha Bandhan, symbolising the virtues of love, affection & mutual trust, bring happiness & prosperity to all," President Kovind said.

The festival celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters.

It is celebrated in many parts of the Indian subcontinent, notably India and Nepal. Raksha bandhan means "bond of protection".

On Raksha Bandhan, a sister ties a rakhi (sacred thread) on her brother's wrist with a prayer for his prosperity and happiness. This symbolizes the sister's love. The brother gives her a token gift and a promise to protect her. (ANI)
